 Crochet frog coaster

Easy beginner friendly crochet tutorial

Frogs are one of my favorites to make. By following this pattern you will be able to make this cute frog coaster! I am absolutely in love with it and it is so easy and quick. Would be just the right last minute gift! I wanted to make one for so long and I finally did it. The design and pattern is my own and I want to share with you how I made my cute coaster. You can also watch the Youtube tutorial and follow along if you get stuck with the pattern.

PLEASE NOTE :

This pattern is for personal use only. Please do not use this pattern for commercial purposes. You are allowed to sell finished products made using this pattern but please credit me for the pattern and link back to this post so that other crafters can make this frog coaster/ pouch too. 😊

You can also buy the pattern in pdf format (printable) from my Etsy

LEVEL:

Beginner

INSTRUCTIONS :

This pattern is written in US terms. Each round must be ended with a slip stitch and each round will be started with a chain 1. You can also refer to the free tutorial on my Youtube here. The size of the coaster/ bag charm will change with the yarn, hook and tension. (My frog coaster turned out to be approximately 9cm in diameter.)

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • 5ply Milk cotton yarn
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Safety eyes or black half beads, Felt
  • Pair of scissors, stitch marker, tapestry needle/ darning needle, glue (B6000)

ABBREVIATIONS:

  • R - round
  • mr - magic ring
  • ch - chain
  • st -  stitch
  • sc - single crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • dc - double crochet
  • htr - half treble crochet
  • treble bbl - treble crochet bobble stitch (4 trebles for the bbl)
  • blo - back loop only
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • hdc inc - half double increase (make two half double crochets in same stitch)
  • [..] - total stitch count at the end of each row
  • FO - finish off

LET'S DO THIS 😁

Remember : At the end of each row, make a sl st and join the row to finish the row. Start each row with a ch 1. You will also have to make treble bbl and htr. These may be new stitches for you, so I recommend you to follow my YT tutorial to see how to do the stitches. I have included timestamps under the video so that it is easy for ya ;)

R1 : 10 hdc in mr [10]

R2: hdc inc * 10 [20]

R3: (hdc, hdc inc ) * 10 [30]

R4: (hdc, hdc inc, hdc ) * 10 [40]

R5: (3 hdc, hdc inc) * 10 [50]

R6: 6 sl st into blo, treble bbl, 8 sl st into blo, treble bbl, 3 sl st into blo *in the video i have forgotten to mention blo*, (sc, hdc), dc inc, htr inc, dc inc, (sc, hdc), 3 sl st into blo,

you are half way done and now repeat the same pattern to make the other half of the frogie(sc, hdc), dc inc, htr inc, dc inc, (sc, hdc), 3 sl st into blo, treble bbl, 8 sl st into blo, treble bbl, 5 sl st into blo

oki doki we have completed the coaster and it's time to add the face details.

And you are done! Give the frogie a grumpy face/ happy face/ confused face haha all sorta options.🌼 Be creative!!!! 🌼

Pouch/ Bag charm :

For floofiez who wanna go ahead and make the bag pouch/charm all you have to do is repeat the same pattern and make another one.

Next you are going to join the two panels using any method you like. I used the slip stitch method. Remember to keep an opening on the top.

Remember the 3 blo sl st we did? To make the keychain part, pick one side and send your hook into the back loop of the middle sl st and make 6 ch, go into the same middle st where you started your first ch and make sl st, cut the yarn and FO

To make the longer chain, repeat the process on the other panel and instead of 6 chains, make 50 ch. If you want it longer make more ch.

Woooohoooooo \(^o^)/ You have yourself a kawaiiiiiii flogieeee bag charm!!!! and a kawaiiii flogie coaster for your mug. (hehe the fancy term now is mug rug😁 flogie rug! heehee)

Well then, thank you so much for following my pattern. Don't forget to share your cute, beautiful work with me on instagram @pikipikicrafts I will be very much thrilled to see them and share with my PiKi PiKi fam!

Happy crocheting floofiez

Stay safe!
